Earlier today I was forwarded an email and I responded, I have edited some of this exchange to protect the identity of the sender:
Good Afternoon
I wonder if you can help to point me in the right direction.
XXXXXXX have launched a new XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX and I believe it would be an ideal fit for your membership to promote to their pupils. The product would add value to the services that your members provide.
Initially I would like to speak to someone who has a responsibility for member benefits and subscriptions to discuss the new product and our concept with the aim of establishing whether an opportunity exists to test the concept with XXXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX.
If you could point me towards the person who may be able to help, that would be greatly appreciated
Kind regards
AXXXXX
I replied
Hi AXXXXX
Your email has been passed to me. I will be happy to discuss this with you.

John
I received a further email
Hi John
Thank you for your quick response. I am just leaving the office and driving for some time, can I call around 3.30 from the car?
Kind regards
AXXXXX
I replied again
Hi AXXXXX
I’d rather you didn’t. This organisation is part of the road safety community and I would prefer not to talk to you whilst you’re driving. I’d hate to be the last person you ever speak to.
I am in the office all day tomorrow if you would like to ring me then from a landline.
You can find further information about using a mobile phone whilst driving here.
Regards
John
Now I’ve sent the email I feel a bit bad. Was I too severe, am I being unrealistic – if its hands free its legal. Should I be preaching and prothletising the road safety message to others?
I’m not sure but at least I didn’t have to hear him die.
